The Murie Center will honor renowned conservationists George Schaller and Bob Krear at the 2nd Murie Center Spirit of Conservation Awards Dinner on Sunday, July 15 in the Murie Ballroom at Hotel Terra. Schaller (pictured at camp during the 1956 Sheenjek Expedition) and Krear were members of the 1956 Sheenjek expedition to Alaska with Olaus and Mardy Murie, which laid the groundwork for the establishment of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Both gentlemen have made significant contributions to conservation efforts globally throughout the past several decades.
The Murie Center is honored to welcome William Meadows, Counselor and Past President of The Wilderness Society, as the keynote speaker for the evening.
The Murie Center Spirit of Conservation Award is presented to an individual whose life work demonstrates a commitment to conservation, civility and community – trademarks of the Murie family legacy.
